Peggy is known for her vibrant naturalistic landscapes of the places she has lived and traveled. Peggy Gould now draws inspiration from the flora and fauna of the Rim Country wilderness. Prior to relocating to the mountains of central Arizona, she resided on the Oregon Coast where her paintings reflected the ever-mutable life of the sea. In executing her oil paintings, she prefers to interpret the essence of a place, rather than a strict photographic rendering, and generally a painting will evolve during the process of painting it.
She began drawing and painting at an early age, partaking in art classes throughout high school and college. Although her painting style has developed naturally, she has studied in a number of workshops under the instruction of the landscape, seascape and wildlife artist, Dale Gherman, as well as other prominent artists in the Pacific Northwest. She also taught classes both for Portland Community College and in her personal studio.
Peggy Gould’s artwork has been represented in galleries along the Oregon Coast and in many group exhibitions where she has acquired a number of awards. Her work may currently be viewed at Myra’s Art Gallery in Pine, AZ, at Artists of the Rim Fine Art Gallery in Payson, AZ, a co-op in which she is a founding partner, and on her Web site: www.cedarhaven.bravehost.com.
